Abstract:The basic principle of the upward looking technology for fast measuring leaf area index was discussed in this paper. The technology is tested by using a canopy analyzer in Yucheng Remote Sensing site of Chinese Academy of Sciences. And we presented a new method for estimating leaf area index of conifer. There is a good agreement between the estimation and the measurement. This kind of instrument can be used for carrying out calibration in the quantitative remote sensing of vegetation.
