Abstract:There are many approaches to the extraction of dynamic change information from remote sensing imagery. However, their operations are very cumbersome, and their efficiency is not so ideal. Double-edge seems to be a good solution. Double edge refers to the boundaries between the neighboring objects or parts in remote sensing image, with the width of its boundary being two pixels, and it can be described by two raster lines. It helps to interpret the objects in remote sensing image by the region of double-edge and to understand the features of dynamic changes by the colors of the double-edge. The procedure for interpretation of dynamic changes based on double-edge is simple and convenient, and the technique contributes to cutting down the work load and reducing the interpretation errors. This paper presents the principles and application of this approach, and makes the information extraction test for land use changes from remote sensing image.
