Ocean Primary Productivity (OPP) is defined as the photosynthetic rate of ocean plankton under sunshine. The satellite measuring for OPPis commonly known as unique way to help us understanding the time-space distribution of OPPin the globel ocean. In the paper, the key problems concerning the satellite measuring for OPPwill be discussed including the technical reguirements of ocean color satellite, primary productivity calculation, as well as calibration and validation of scientific data from satellite senor. In addition, will be given the sensors technical characteristics equipped on ocean color satellites launched in the past and near future.
