Abstract The essential types of altered rock related to Au mineralization in Wulashan, Maihanshan and Sunitezuoqi and the remote sensing methods to extract them are discussed in this paper. Some image processing methods are applied for extracting the altered information from TM data, such as Ratio, principal component and image classification etc. Field geological survey affirms a excellent concordance between image altered zone and gold mineralization-altered zone, and two large alteration zones are found by remote sensing process.
