A PRELIMINARY DISCUSSION ON DIRECT GEOREFERENCING OF INTEGRATED GPS/IMU

Abstract  By combination of GPS with Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Positioning Orientation System(POS) may conduct direct measurement of all parameters of the exterior orientation for airborne sensors so as to realize direct geo-referencing. This paper deals mainly with the integration of GPS/IMU with aerial camera, the data processing and the main error sources of POS. POS applied in the aerial photogrammetry is also analyzed on the basis of the results obtained from the test flight area in Anyang City, Henan Province.
