Abstract This paper takes the Yellow river delta as an example and uses the image data of CBERS-1 Satellite to extract the information of saline dryland. On the basis of detailed analysis to the spectral and spatial information of the saline dryland, the thematic information of saline dryland can be automatically extracted using the different knowledge from human brain while analyzing the image, supported by GIS.
