A SPEEDIER MEASURING TECHNOLOGY FOR LEAF AREA INDEX ——A CALIBRATION TOOL IN QUANTITATIVE REMOTE SENSING OF VEGETATION

Abstract  The basic principle of the upward looking technology for fast measuring leaf area index was discussed in this paper. The technology is tested by using a canopy analyzer in Yucheng Remote Sensing site of Chinese Academy of Sciences. And we presented a new method for estimating leaf area index of conifer. There is a good agreement between the estimation and the measurement. This kind of instrument can be used for carrying out calibration in the quantitative remote sensing of vegetation.
