Abstract Buerdong gulley is located in pisha sandstone distribution area along the middle reaches of the Yellow River. Strong erodibility of pisha sandstone together with concentrated precipitation have caused the continuous erosion of the edge lines of the slope, affecting the living conditions of local residents. Therefore, it is necessary to study the erosion rule of pisha sandstone. In this paper, the erosion distance of pisha sandstone was calculated by using remote sensing and GIS technology, and the effecting factors were analyzed.
