Abstract The middle part of Chuanzang Highway, nearly 900 km 2, is located in southeast border of Tibetan plateau in which there was heavy crust movement during the geological history, especially in Quaternary, and there are rough landscape and weather. So the geological hazard are popular in forms and scopes. In order to investigate the distribution of the hazard along the highway, a project of aerial color infrared photography was made by CRSG in the beginning of 90’s. The image interpretation of geology had done with the photos. The characteristics and shape of landslides, rockfalls and mud flows, and etc. was analyzed and a proposals were promoted for protection of geological hazards.
