Abstract In this paper,a new filtering method has been proposed on the basis of the WLS error criterion,and the fractional order calculus has been used in the method. The coefficient of the filter can be altered with the order. Validated by the Riemann-Liouville rule,the method can be applied to remote sensing image processing. Studies show that the method can attain the balance between anti-interference and detail extraction. Thus the technique displays fairly good filtering effect.
