Abstract

The colour images of the Humble Administration Garden of Suzou City with 1:1000 scale were obtained from the natural colour negative films with 1:10000 scale produced in 1986 The present situation of land use, the greenland covering area were interpreted, investigated and mapped. Measuring the used land and greenland covering area on the interpreted maps, it is found that the greenland ratio in the Garden is 52.50 per cent and the greenland covering ratio is 81.36 per cent.Accurate data and information were provided for the garden and planting management departments. The interpreted maps show the pattern of used land distribution and structure of the Humble Administration Garden Which has the integrated characteristics of stream, hill, construction, planting, decoration and display. This is the best garden art in south China. So, it is feasible to spread the application of remote sensing method in the investigation of ancient gardens.
