Abstract The clay mineralization and kaolinite enrichment in soil is one of the hydrocarbon’s Micro-Seepage characteristics. Study of the quantitative relationship between the clay mineral content and the reflectance spectrum of soil is more useful for the application of the Imaging Spectrometry in oil and gas exploration. In this paper we study quantitatively the relationship between the nearinfrared reflectance spectrum of soil and the concentration of the main clay minerals in soil. The estimation equations are derived with the relationship coefficient (R2)better than 0. 8.
