Abstract This paper introduces near-infrared spectra (0. 7─2.5 μm) of some petroleum matter by the comprehensive measurement in terms of spectral informa- tion feature obtained by remote sensing for oil and gas resources. The spectral characteristics and choosing optimum wave bands applied to remote sensing for oil and gas resources is discussed.
