Abstract Petroleum running in the underground pipes always diffuces heat and forms diffused heat anomaly zones with temperature obviously higher than its surroundings. Based on this effect this paper briefly introduces the method of using airborne thermal infrared images obtained at different time and different altitude to detect oil pipe pets in oil field and the results obtained.
