Abstract First of all, the supervised classification of land use was carried out Using the Landsat-5 data in Qingdao city. Then, the administrative boundaries of Qingdao city were digitized as a data file. Under the support of computer software, the administrative boundaries were drawn on the,classification map. The value of pixel beyond the boundaries was set to be zero, and the number of the pixed within the boundaries were counted. Finally, tile areas of various classifications and the total area were obtained.
